I plan on utilizing various transition hairstyles to protect or hide my hair. The above picture shows me with a flat twistout hairstyle. It’s probably going to be my trademark do because it’s so simple to style. Plus I can airdry it and limiting heat on my hair is also something that I want to focus on. Below is a full list of the other hairstyles I want to try while transitioning.
Transition Hairstyles
- Braidouts
- Twistouts
- Flat Twistout
- Rollerset
- Flexi Rods Set
- Perm Rods Set
- Bantu Knots
- Braids
- Cornrows
- Buns
- Wigs (I’ll utilize this option more if I get tired of the above)

My hair is probably tip-toeing around my shoulder right now. In about 3 months or so, when it gets longer, I may start playing around with braidouts and twistouts.
Looks great!
Thanks Stacey! I say go for it, they are super easy to do and I can make them last for a week.
I’m curious… What do you use to do your braidouts? What’s your leave-in conditioner? Moisturizer? Sealer? etc…
The only leave-in I use is Lacio Lacio. I’ve been experimenting with my flat twistout (I use the same mixes for my braidouts) and think I just found my staple moisturizing setting mix. I placed water, glycerin, and aloe vera in a water bottle and sprayed onto each section. Then I sealed the section with coconut oil. I have a feeling that’s going to be my final mix.
I just did one last night and will take it down tomorrow… will post pics of the result and a more detailed post to my blog before I go to school tomorrow.
