The much-anticipated video for Sade’s first single release from the brand new album, Soldier of Love is now available to view worldwide. I’m a huge fan of Sade and absolutely love the video. And I’m very happy that she’s back… Sade and Maxwell did a number on me making me wait almost 10 years for some new GOOD music. Back to the video… I was wondering about the sometimes lack of synchronization between the dancers, but maybe they were choreographed that way. *shrugs* Anyway, the hair is classic Sade… sleek pretty ponytails and buns, with a hint of wind-blowing hair every now and then to keep me interested. Watch the video below!
“Vocalist Sade Adu, bassist Paul Denman, guitarist and sax player Stuart Matthewman and keyboardist Andrew Hale started work on the album at Peter Gabriel’s Real World studio in 2008 and after a series of fortnightly sessions, the album was completed in the summer of 2009.
The feel of the music has moved away from the old country soul styling of Lover’s Rock and has assumed a more eclectic identity. At times the band sound like the original Sade, with Matthewman back blowing soft sax on ‘In Another Time’ and the vocal on ‘Long Hard Road’ hymning. But with songs such as the joyously quirky reggae chant ‘Babyfather’, and the dramatically arranged album opener ‘The Moon and the Sky’, Sade have been exploring new territory.
Known for their smooth sounds and rhythmic melodies, Sade has enjoyed phenomenal success both internationally and Stateside throughout the span of their twenty-five year career.
Since the release of their debut album, Diamond Life in 1984 the band have seen all five of their studio albums land in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart selling a total of more than 50 million albums worldwide to date.
They’ve been nominated for American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and have won a Brit Award for Best Album for Diamond Life, three Grammy Awards – first in 1986 for Best New Artist, then in 1994 for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group for ‘No Ordinary Love’, and again in 2002 for Best Pop Vocal Album with Lovers Rock.
And the wait is now over: The highly anticipated new body of work from Sade.
Soldier of Love will be released worldwide on 8th February, 2010 and is Sade’s first official studio album since the multi-platinum release of Lovers Rock in 2000.”
