Pre-Shampoo Molasses Hair Recipe

February 2, 2009

Need a quick way to soften and strengthen your hair at the same time? Try this pre-shampoo molasses hair recipe. Molasses is a natural humectant and historically a common ingredient mixed with oil in hair treatments. I recommend using Blackstrap Molasses for this hair recipe.

What you need: 1/2 cup molasses, 1/2 cup of your fav conditioner (I used some Suave that I was trying to get rid of), and 1 tablespoon of Olive Oil (can be substituted).

Directions: Stir the mixture in a bowl and apply to hair. Let it sit on your hair for 45-60 minutes before rinsing out.

Enjoy!

I applied this pre shampoo molasses mixture on my hair, in workable sections. I did this on a day when I was alone at home with no plans to go out. I roughly plaited each section, as best as I can, I combed out each ‘sticky molasses mixture section with care (wide toothed comb very gently, using my fingers most of the time to avoid pulling). I washed out each section under running water, unplaiting and replaiting the hair. I towelled dry the hair, and sat outside (it was a warmish day with a slight wind) to dry the hair naturally.
A lovely pre shampoo mixture, I cannot wait to use it again. Tangling was minimal. Thank you for posting this molasses hair recipe., i am very grateful and God’s blessings.
