Giovanni Smooth As Silk Conditioner

August 31, 2009

Name: Giovanni Smooth As Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner

Price: $8 at drugstore.com and Whole Foods

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Product Promise: Contains vegetable protein to soothe dry or damaged hair, control frizz, and adds shine.

The Review: I’ve used this product as a deep conditioner and for co-washing my hair. I really love it and so does my hair. It has an amazing orange-lemony smell and a pretty thick consistency. The only issue I have is the lack of slip when I use it for co-washing… deep conditioning my hair with it seems to work better. The results are moisturized and strong hair, and if Elasta QP changed my DPR-11 formula for the worse, this may be my new staple deep conditioner.

If you’re looking for a natural, organic line of hair products, I highly recommend Giovanni. The ingredients are great and every product I’ve tried from the line worked for me.

Ingredients: Aqua (Purified Water), Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis) Oil, Nettle (Urtica Dioica) Oil, Thyme (Thymus Vulgaris) Oil, Birch Leaf (Butela Alba) Oil, Chamomile (Anthemis Nobilis Flower) Oil, Clary (Salvia Sclarea), Lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia), Coltsfoot Leaf (Tussilago Fargara), Yarrow (Achillea Millefolium) Oil, Mallow (Malya Sylvestris), Horsetail (Equisetum Arvense) Oil, Soybean Protein (Glycine Soja), Cetyl Alcohol (Plant Derived), Stearalkonium Chloride, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Trace Minerals, Citric Acid (Corn), Sodium Hydromethylglycinate, Grapefruit Seed (Citrus Derived).

I’ve been thinking about trying this line out myself. I seen it in Walmart and want to be able to recommend a good natural product that my readers can buy locally.

Thanks for the review.

BTW: Have you ever tried out the Curls.biz, line? I’m in love with their shampoo and conditioners.

Hi Samara,

No, I haven’t tried the Curlz line but I’m going to put it on my wishlist. I have a ton of products to get rid of first, lol. Thanks for checking out my blog!

Have you guys tried the Take Down Product Line. They are know for their braid, weave and dreadlock Remover, but they have a great assortment of natural hair care products as well.

cheers

I have used the Giovanni Direct Leave In, which is okay, but it can get frothy if you even use more than a dab per section of hair.
I’ve also used Giovanni’s Deep conditioner. Not the calming, 50/50 or tea tree…but the other one.

Giovani does not offer tons of slip. My hair doesn’t seem to detangle well with products that have too much rosemary in it.

I love the Cortex International Repair conditioner. So far, its amazing. NO damaging or potentially hair-wrecking ingredients, and bought it for only $3.99
