Thanks for posting on this great site! I'm about 2 months post relaxer at this point. I want to go natural, but am not ready to part with my long hair. I'm glad that I found a transition site where someone didn't go through with the BC. Psychologically, I'm just not ready-- so your blog gives me hope that I can transition successfully.

Hey!! I'm a 16 year old girl, and after seeing all my friends wearing weaves and wearing their hair BONE straight, I decided to step outside the triangle and go natural!!! *woot woot* So first, I tried doing the twist out, following your instructions. The next morning, my hair was a big ol' MESS. There were waves that were defined but it was very big and wild looking lol. Due to flatironing, my roots are much thicker and coiler and closer to the ends it starts to loosen up. I use Cantu leave in treatment for my "twist out." Any tips?

@ Keisha - My crown area is the thickest and driest portion of my hair too. I just try to keep it moisturized and never comb it dry.

@ Temika - There are so many to choose from but I only use two at the moment when deep conditioning, Keracare Humecto and Elasta QP DPR-11. Just make sure you fully detangle your hair after taking down braids before washing because it may knot up when shampooing.

@ Keshia - I just went to your Tumbler page, but I'm not able to leave you a message (not sure how it works) or comment. Also, your email address is not delivering... so leave me a message via my "Contact" link at the top of the page so I can get back to you. BTW, you are beautiful and I love the new braids hairstyle on you.

hi i'm trying to go natral but braid outs and twist out don't seem to work on my hair. Take a look at my braid out attempt.

I want to try thi but I don't have alof of products. (actually, the only prouducts i have is a deep conditioner and carrot tea tree oil. I've been going natral for only about two mounts and i only have a little over an inch of new growth but a little more around the crown of my hair and the back, and i'm trying to find a way to do it without straighting it but it never wooks out.

Hi Tam! I do the flat twistout hairstyle myself and to keep them in good shape I just take a bit of mousse or holding cream and lightly run it through the curls with my hands the first night. Then, I just put my hair in an satin bonnet (extra large or jumbo size) and try to "sleep pretty" the rest of the week. Lol! After about three days it may look messy... so I'll do a bun, half-up and half-down style, or pull it into a ponytail with a few tendrils out in the front.

I hope that helps and thanks for stopping by my blog :)
