Dry Shampoo Recipe

June 11, 2009

I started searching for a dry shampoo homemade hair recipe after school let out and I resumed my workout schedule. I don’t feel like co-washing my hair every day after I work out and this recipe works well for my lazy summer hair thing that I currently have going on. It’s also cheaper than the current dry shampoo hair products that are currently being sold. And I’m on a budget, lol.

What You Need: 1/2 cup Cornstarch

Directions: Sprinkle the cornstarch in your hair, let it absorb for a few minutes, brush it out. Cornstarch can be a little messy… so use as little as possible. You can also just dab it on with your fingers while concentrating on your oily areas. If your hair is dry, just rub a bit of your oil of choice (mine is jojoba) on your hair before applying the cornstarch. Most ground grains can be substituted for the cornstarch. My neighbor uses ground oatmeal in her dry shampoo recipes.

If you would prefer a store brought product, check out other dry shampoo options below.

Unsweetened real cocoa powder works great for those with darker hair & it smells great too!
Just make sure you use the real thing and not a substitute with sweeteners.
