Hello, I'm going natural for the very first time. My last relaxer was in May. I'm deployed right now in Afghanistan and I chose this time to try the natural look. I've been trying for a long time. I would get three months in and then relax my hair. I'm almost all natural now, I have about a half inch of straight hair left. I was nervous at first because I have to maintain uniform standards. Right now I have it twisted in the front and the back in a afro. What are some other styles to do that I could manage in this envioronment?

Hi
I'm glad I found this website, right now I have a big dilemma.
I have been transitioning for ten months and my hair is very thick curly and hard to manage but I didnot get any breakage as I used to trim frequently. I straighted my hair one day, then few days after I end up with so much stress and frustration that I went back to relaxer. I should have done more research maybe but instead of been happy I now regret it, as I prefer my hair to be natural and the worst thing is, my mum used to put my relaxer on in the past, put it the wrong way which means my hair is now one inch relaxed down the roots then three inches natural then my relaxed ends is down my back. Really don't know what to do if I relaxed my hair it will be waist lenght and if I don't I might get frustrated with so many different textures, bcause I am thinking of transitioning until my natural hair grow back. Please can you give any suggestion shall I go back to relaxer or stay natural and fight with my different hair textures on a daily basis or have a big chop.PLEASE HELP!!

I HAVE ONLY BEEN TRANSITIONING FOR ABOUT TWO MONTHS AND HAVE AN INCH OF NEW GROWTH ON TOP AND SIDES AND TWO INCHES IN THE BACK. I CO-WASH MAYBE TWICE A WEEK AND ACTUALLY WASH AND DEEP CONDITION EVERY TWO WEEKS. A HAIR STYLE THAT WORKS FOR ME IS A ROLLER SET. ITS A PROTECTIVE STYLE THAT CAN BE DONE AT HOME WITH EITHER SPONGE ROLLERS IF I GO TO THE SALON I GET PERM RODS. I LOVE IT BC U CAN'T TELL THAT I HAVE TWO TEXTURES. I ONLY PLAN ON TRANSITIONING 6 MONTHS THEN BIG CHOP. I'M EXCITED

My daughter recently cut her hair down to the new growth. She always had wavey hair and looks really cute. My own hair is becoming soft and I have not had a perm since November, 2010. I am growing my perm out but my hair won't hold a single curl and it is very dry. I have about 4 inches of new growth. My daughter is encouraging me to cut the rest of the perm out. But my natural hair is not like hers and I don't think I will look cute lik she does. But my hair is now a mess and something must be done!!! I'm also thinning at the edges. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

I am 4 mo post relaxer and thinking about transitioning i am in the army so I am very limited when it comes to hairstyles. Now i only wear my hair in buns everyday and days im off i simply plat my hair ends or the usual bun. I dont do braids because i am way too tender headed and i found that braids dry my hair out to the point of no return. I do not want to chop all of my hair off i have been making so much progress now i dont want any huge setbacks. I feel if im going to loose most of my hair i might as well keep my hair relaxed and continue going forward. My goal is for healthier fuller hair. More than what i have now.
